Form C100 is the application used to ask the family court to decide where a child lives, who they spend time with, and specific issues such as schooling or travel.
Before you apply
- You normally have to attend a MIAM, a mediation information and assessment meeting.
- Exemptions apply, for example where there is domestic abuse or urgency.
- The court expects you to have tried to resolve matters first.
What happens next
- The court issues the application and Cafcass carries out safeguarding checks.
- A first hearing dispute resolution appointment is listed.
- Many cases settle by agreement at or before that hearing.
