How we build this data
Every figure has a source
Government fees come from GOV.UK and are stored once in a single configuration file, so the £628 court fee reads the same on every page of this site. Where a number is an estimate or a planning range, we label it as one.
Methodology in the open
Each data asset says how it was built, what it includes and what it deliberately leaves out, so you can judge whether it fits your purpose before you quote it.
Dated, not evergreen-by-pretence
Fees and court timescales change. Every asset carries the date it was last checked rather than implying it is permanently current.
Information, not advice
CalmSplit is a self-help platform, not a firm of solicitors. Our own guided service costs £159 per person and we say so plainly, but nothing here depends on you buying it.
Using our data in your own work
Journalists, researchers, mediators and advisers are welcome to quote or republish any figure on these pages, with a link back to the page it came from as the source. If you need a breakdown that is not published here, or a comment on divorce costs and timescales in England and Wales, get in touch and we will help where we can.
