Most rejected applications fail on details, not law. Fifteen minutes of preparation removes almost all of the common problems.
Documents
- Your original marriage certificate or a certified copy (a photocopy is not accepted).
- A certified translation if the certificate is not in English.
- Proof of any name change, such as a deed poll or a subsequent marriage certificate.
Information
- Full names of both spouses exactly as they appear on the certificate.
- The address where your spouse can be served, including an email address if you have one.
- The date and place of the marriage.
- Details of any existing court orders between you.
Decisions
- Sole or joint application.
- Whether you will apply for Help with Fees.
- Whether you want to change your name back after the Final Order.
