Do I need my marriage certificate to divorce?
Yes. A certified copy of your marriage certificate must be submitted with the divorce application. It does not have to be the original, and a replacement certified copy is straightforward to order.

- Your full name and address, and any name changes since the marriage
- Your spouse's full name and an address or email for service
- Payment for the HMCTS divorce fee, or a Help with Fees reference
If your name has changed
If either of you has changed name since the marriage, the application should reflect both the name on the certificate and your current name. Supporting evidence such as a deed poll may be requested.

Order a certified copy online from the General Register Office or from the register office in the district where you married.
